Green Defensive Driving Course online

System requirements

The Green Defensive Driving Course is "e-Learning" at its best. This philosophy of adult education goes beyond CD-ROM and computer-based training. It lets you get the most out of computers and connectivity - while still offering personal interaction.

For more than 35 years, the Canada Safety Council's instructor-led Defensive Driving Course (DDC) has taught drivers how to prevent collisions. The new Green DDC also helps drivers become more environmentally responsible.

Advantages of e-learning:
  • Self-Paced - learn at your own speed but receive the benefit of the program's standard tests.
  • 24/7 Access - this course is available to you all day, every day via the internet.
  • Motivation - you get immediate feedback and individualized instruction. Flash demonstrations add interest.
  • Tracking - the administration component meets occupational safety requirements.
  • Lower Costs - eliminates travel, per diems and learning materials.
  • Ongoing Resource - even after you finish the course, you can continue to use the online knowledge bank.
  • Flexibility - smaller companies, new employees and drivers far away from courses offered in the classroom can train as needed.
  • Certification - you get a wallet card and wall certificate once you successfully complete the course.
Technical Considerations:

There are certain minimum technical requirements which you will need in order to complete the online course. The course uses multimedia animation and sound to provide interactive driving scenarios and the opportunity to consider how collisions can be prevented. To properly view and complete this course, participants must have:

  • minimum 56 Kb modem access to the internet or high-speed internet (recommended).
  • Flash Player 7 installed.
  • Internet Explorer version 5.5 and above or Netscape version 7.0 and above, with JavaScript enabled.
  • It is also recommended that participants have a sound card and speakers to hear the audio components. However, text equivalents are included for all audio files.
  • The program will run with Windows 95, 98, NT, 2000 and XP, but has not been tested using the MAC platform.
