Divisions

The divisions of the safety council organize programs in key areas of activity. Currently, there are three divisions, each operated by volunteers.

Traffic Division

The Traffic Division coordinates activities in traffic safety, including drivers and pedestrians.

This division delivers three courses. These internationally recognized courses are endorsed by the Canada Safety Council:

  • Defensive Driving
  • 55-Alive

In addition, the Traffic Division contributes to the City of Saskatoon Traffic Safety Committee.

Home and community Division

The Home and Community Division promotes safety for groups and individuals. For example, this division provides programs and services in these areas:

  • Concerns of seniors and elderly people
  • Falls and other injuries in the home
  • Children's safety
  • School safety
  • Playground safety

Public Health Division

The Public Health Division considers matters related to the health of the population. In many cases, this division works closely with the Home and Community Division, Saskatoon Health Region and other agencies such as EMS and Fire and Protective Services. For example, this division promotes:

  • Playground safety
  • Child restraints in vehicles (e.g. infant car seats)
