Privacy Policy

The Saskatoon and District Safety Council (SDSC) is committed to protecting your privacy and maintaining the confidentiality of your personal information. Personal information may be provided to us through membership application/renewal; correspondence; registrations to courses, conferences, meetings or other events; or responding to your information requests.

Here is the personal information we collect and how we use it:

Defensive Driving Course and 55 Alive Driver Refresher Course.

We need your name, address and telephone number so that we can register you for the course and provide you with the course location and other details about the course. If you have taken an online course, we use this information to discuss your assignments and to send you your course graduation certificate when you finish the course. As a requirement of the course, we provide your name and certificate number to the Saskatchewan Safety Council. We keep a copy of your name and certificate number for up to a year and then destroy it. We destroy all other personal information immediately after the course, unless we have received payment for the course by cheque, in which case we may retain your personal information for up to 30 days (until your cheque clears).

Information provided on course evaluation forms is rendered anonymous (e.g. by removing or obliterating your name and other personal information).

When signing up for the Green Defensive Driving Course, you will need to provide your name and some personal information online. This information is collected by Jacques Whitford (the company that provides the course for us and the Canada Safety Council) and is used only for your participation in the course, so that we can identify course participants, follow their progress and send them their certificates at the end of the course. View Jacques Whitford privacy policy.

When you pay online, the information you provide is encrypted and sent by secure transmission to PayPal. A confirmation e-mail is sent to us, letting us know what you paid for and how much you paid. We never see any of your credit card or PayPal account information. View PayPal privacy policy.

Membership Information.

As a requirement of the Saskatchewan Non-Profit Corporations Act, we keep a register of members, "containing the names, alphabetically or otherwise systematically arranged in a manner capable of producing information about all members in intelligible written form within a reasonable time, and the latest known addresses of each person who is or who, during the previous year, has been a member of the corporation and the date on which each became or ceased to be a member." In addition, we request that you voluntarily provide your telephone number and e-mail address, so that we can contact you about safety council events and activities.
